The state senator Roland has a dalliance with a waitress from the local diner. He tells her that Daniel's victim was from a family "without means" while Daniel was a strange teenage boy. The waitress tells the senator that Daniel's sister, Amantha, has a relationship with the family's lawyer. Daniel retreats to the attic in his mom's house. He finds an old mixed tape from a girl. He later goes to a skate and bike park with his half brother Jared. Amantha is out drinking with the lawyer Jon. A man asks her if Daniel is going to live at home, and she says she doesn't know. Amantha tells Jon that the man was the brother of the girl that was raped and murdered 19 years ago.
