Brienne escorts Jaime across the Riverlands to King's Landing, trying to remain inconspicuous. Jaime gets hold of one of her swords and engages her in a duel, which is interrupted by a group of men who represent House Bolton, which is loyal to Robb Stark. Catlyn's father unexpectedly dies and Robb changes his plans to attend the funeral in Riverrun, which further aggrivates Lord Karstark, whose son was killed by Jaime. Arya, Gendry and Hot Pie make for the safety of Riverrun, but are waylaid by the Brotherhood Without Banners, a rebellious group fighting to preserve Westeros, and are taken to an inn. Another group of brothers have captured the Hound and also bring him to the inn and he reveals to the Brotherhood that Arya is a Stark. Margaery Tyrell and her grandmother Olenna, the Queen of Thorns, forge a bond with Sansa, who reluctantly tells Margaery about Joffrey's monstrous temprament. Theon Greyjoy is tortured by a group of unknown captors after his failure to hold Winterfell. Bran, Rickon, Osha and Hodor encounter Jojen and Meera Reed, siblings whose father is loyal to Robb. Jojen reveals that he has been sharing Bran's strange dreams.
